Review — Sailing Deep (Paranormal Shifter M/M Navy Seal Book One) by Noah Harris
He hadn’t thought that Blake could get any closer. He was wrong. Blake’s body seemed to melt against his, relaxing so that every curve, every line, every inch, was pressed together. He could feel it through the layers of clothing. When Blake kissed him this time, it was strangely slow. He captured Dylan’s lips and held them with a firm tenderness that made Dylan’s head spin. It had been so long since he had kissed anyone. It had been so long since he had been this close to anyone. He had forgotten what it felt like.
Dylan’s mission: assist his Navy SEAL team as they infiltrate enemy territory and gather Intel on the new shifter pack called the Shadow Pack through distant observation.
Blake’s mission: infiltrate and live within the Shadow Pack and gather any useful information and data from the inside as one of them.
One is a SEAL, and the other is a spy. Their missions were never supposed to cross, yet one fateful accident during a full moon intertwines their fates. Dylan finds himself in the middle of the Shadow Pack and under the charade that he’s Blake’s mate. They must learn to live and work together, or risk exposing both of their covers, and Dylan’s team. Blake is charming, flirty, cocky, and irritating; yet Dylan finds himself strangely drawn to the man. Blake’s strength of will and patience are put to the test, but Blake is patient, and he’s not willing to give up so easily.
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS A VERY HOT AND STEAMY BOOK, OVER 50,000 WORDS M/M LOVERS, INTENDED FOR 18 AND OLDER.
If you like mystery, suspense, intrigue, and hot and sexy alpha wolf shifters, then you will love Sailing Deep by Noah Harris. From the first chapter the reader is thrown into a mission gone wrong when Dylan shifts during the full moon but gets disoriented and wakes up in a holding cell.
Blake has to think fast if he wants to get Dylan out of the predicament he finds himself in when he wakes up. Saying they are mates was the first thing he thought of but it couldn't have worked out better for either of them.
The world building the author created was interesting, although we don't learn too much about what the mission is about other than they are sent there to watch for suspicious activity, but the connection between Blake and Dylan was pretty clever. I'm more interested in how the author will work the mate/shifter/lifetime partners most have especially after they get separated.
This was my first time reading anything from this author but I really enjoyed Sailing Deep, I thought the authors descriptive narrative flowed effortlessly and I was captivated pretty much from the first page till the last. One thing I really enjoy while reading is having an underlying tension of fear knowing something is going to happen, you just don't know what, and you certainly have that with this book. There is a shower scene that may give pause to some but for me it was the animal taking his mate and claiming what was his.
I loved the spark and romance between Blake and Dylan, even though Blake had to work hard getting Dylan to kiss him, it is was worth it in the end, I loved Blake's easy going personality and how he tried to make Dylan comfortable in an uncomfortable environment. Once Dylan gives in to the physical connection with Blake things go a lot smoother and their relationship really takes off. I'm looking forward to the next book hoping that there is more between these two yet to come. 4.Stars
