Marc smiled as he made clinking sounds in the galley of his private jet. He already had the black slacks on, so it was the work of a moment to take off his polo shirt and slip into the white epauletted button-down short-sleeve shirt of a steward. The wings were already attached to the lapels, and he’d even had a name tag made.

“Here you go, sir,” he said as he handed Jesse his drink on a tray. Jesse was already involved in something on his phone, and he absentmindedly reached for it.

Then he paused, sensing that something had changed. He looked up to see Marc dressed as an airline steward, his eyes dancing with heat.

Marc didn’t smile as he said, “Is there anything else I can get you, sir?”

Jesse swallowed. “Maybe a warm blanket.”

Marc took the drink from his hand. He pressed a button on the side of Jesse’s chair.

“The seat fully reclines into a bed, sir. Let me make you comfortable.”

As the seat back flattened and the base lifted Jesse’s feet up, Marc pushed another button, and the chair’s arms lowered out of the way, which gave him room to straddle Jesse’s hips.

He put his hands on Jesse’s chest, and Jesse reached up to finger his collar. “How did you earn those wings, steward?”

Marc idly stroked Jesse’s hand where it lingered on the wings. “Oh, those, sir? For achieving membership in the Mile High Club. Are you a member?” Marc began to grind his ass against Jesse’s crotch, feeling the transformation below his slacks.

“You know, I am not. I’ve never been invited to join.”

Marc leaned in to whisper in his ear. “Let me be the first to welcome you, then.”

When I read, Would I Lie to You? By Brad Vance, it was my first time reading anything by this author. I absolutely love Jesse and Marc, and I really love the author’s writing style so I was eagerly awaiting book 2, Strength in Numbers. I even held onto it for a few days because I wanted to live in suspense. And, it didn’t disappoint me, at all.

One of the many things I love about Brad’s writing is his humor and the humor/banter he instills in his characters. Marc and Jesse are a perfect match, they balance each other, and the humor they have between them is laugh out loud hilarious. I don’t how many times I caught myself with this huge smile across my face as I was reading.

Another thing that I love about this series is the author’s capability to relay the story to the reader where it’s easy to comprehend what’s going on. I’m not a math major by any means and if you have already read the first book, you know that the concept is numbers. The author, without dumbing it down, broke it down in layman’s terms making it easy for this reader to follow along and not feel lost in the journey.

Probably my most favorite parts of this series, Strength in Numbers especially, are the sex scenes. I know you want to get lost in the sex, feel the emotion and the passion that is driving the characters during these intense moments and you do feel that, but what I love the most - is the humor and banter that Jesse and Marc feed off of.

You may be reading along and starting to get all hot and bothered by the scene and then one of them throws out something hilarious and changes the whole visual. Now, you are smiling from ear to ear and hoping no one sees you and wants an explanation as to why you are laughing so much.

Marc and Jesse love to role-play and they do it so well. Whether in an elevator, a plane, or dangling closely on the edge of life, they take on whatever role matches the occasion and they go for it. Another reason why they are so well matched.

They balance each other, and by now, in their relationship, they have found trust with each other. Something that, both, Jesse and Marc struggled with because of their past experiences and relationships. But, trust is a beautiful thing and when you find it, like these two have with each other, it is amazing to experience. I believe trust went a long way in helping them find the clues they were looking for.

Strength in Numbers gives us a closer look at who Marc and Jesse are, at their core, and what defines them as a person. Finding out what makes them tick isn’t always easy to read. Marc is a much deeper character than I had first thought.

As the author takes us back through his childhood and probably the turning point in Marc’s life as to how he would act as an adult, it’s heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time. I have no doubt that some of these things really happen and that makes it even harder to get through. It’s an eye-opening experience.

We know from book one that, at some point, Leonid (Jesse’s protector in prison) would want to cash in on Jesse’s promise to help when the time came. Well… the time has come and Strength in Numbers takes us along for a harrowing and, more often than not, a hysterical journey with Marc and Jesse as they start their quest looking for a hidden key.

The author explains to the reader what the quest is about and what Bitcoin means and why it’s wonderful to have…if you have it. I’m not even going to try and explain it because the author does it much better, but it’s very interesting and I was definitely sucked in from the first page till the last.

There is suspense, mystery, lots of action and drama, and my favorite part, the humor. There are some pretty amazing sex scenes in some pretty amazing places and I loved watching their romance unfold. It’s not hearts and roses. It’s real and intense. Sweet and funny.

Jesse looked at him for a moment. “I fuckin’ love you.”

Marc laughed. “I fuckin’ love you, too.” He got up and held out his hand to Jesse.  “Now let’s go kick some ass.”

They really are two peas in a pod and I can’t wait to have the chance to go on another all-encompassing journey with them. They not only had to trust each other but quite a few people from their past shows their faces again and they have to decide if any of them are trustworthy or not. Some of them are…some of them, not so much.

Overall, I adored this book, I love this series, and I love the author’s writing style and how he evokes a visual in your mind with the scenes that are playing out on your tablet in front of you. There’s everything you could want in a book, in a story that will pull you in and take you on a helluva journey. Highly recommended. 5 stars from me.
