A Kind of Romance
By Lane Hayes

Zeke Gulden is a ruthless Wall Street exec. His hard-edged, no-nonsense attitude has served him well in the cutthroat business world, but less so in his personal life. When he finds out his ex-boyfriend cheated on him with a coworker, Zeke can’t let go—not until he finds a way to get even.

However, his meddlesome father has other ideas. The new hire at the family-owned bagel store is somewhat colorful, but his dad is sure he’s the perfect man for Zeke.

Benny Ruggieri is a fiercely proud New Yorker who dreams of making it big as a costume designer in the theater. In the meantime, he’s working two part-time jobs in the food biz. When his new boss sets him up with his successful son, Benny has zero expectations. If nothing else, he figures he can entertain himself by making the uptight businessman squirm.

Instead, the two become unlikely friends with an inexplicable attraction they can’t ignore. Benny might be the one to help Zeke set aside his quest for revenge, if he’s willing to let go and forgive what he can’t forget… and give in to an unexpected kind of romance.

Review

Wow, Wow. Wow, Breathtakingly beautiful!!
I was captivated and totally engulfed in this story from start to finish. A Kind of Romance is brilliant in the delivery, funny and hilarious to the point that your jaws will ache from smiling so much. Lane Hayes hit this out of the park, landing on every button I have, that makes me 100% invested in a story. It was emotional and moving and is guaranteed to bring tears, but so, so incredible.

•••

All for the sake of a meddling father, Zeke meets Benny against his better judgement in order to get his father off his back. What takes him by surprise is how much he really likes talking to him and the things he thought would bother him, such as pink hair, pink eyebrows, high pitched voice in exaggerations, doesn’t really bother him near as much, and eventually—not at all.

•••

He actually finds him rather endearing and for the life of him he doesn’t understand why. A kiss goodnight shared between them sparks passion and a new feeling of rightness Zeke hasn’t experienced in a really long time.

•••

Zeke has a lot of pain in his past and some even in his present that he doesn’t like to visit too often. The most precious and dearest person to him, his mother, is not herself and it kills Zeke a little more each day.

•••

He’s had a bad breakup or maybe bad because the break-up wasn’t on his terms so he’s constantly thinking revenge and letting it fester—combined with his dad who doesn’t know a stranger—and every person loves him dearly that knows him—but this same kind man that loves every stereotype out there today, works for LGBT centers, isn't the man that raised a scared young gay Zeke. The man in the present is not the man in Zeke's past. It hurts and he struggles to come to terms with it.

•••

A pretend date for the sake of getting Zeke’s dad to back off turns into another and another and soon they are agreeing this isn’t so bad so why not make it a more permanent thing. With the help of his best friend, Zeke decides to quit worrying about everyone else and just have fun for a change and he’s having a blast. For the first time in years, he’s stepping away from the computer or market exchange to look at a text from Benny or talk to him on the phone over where they are going to dinner. He's going to family dinners, more Benny's family. . .but still—he's having fun.

•••

The cool thing Benny is doing as they casually date each other, with no strings attached, and you can’t see no one else but me, he’s changing the ways Zeke sees things or maybe has forgotten in his busy wall street life. Benny is short, thin, a fireball of energy and the complete opposite of Mr. Armani suits - rides in a Mercedes - with a driver - Zeke, but they are so good together.

•••

Benny doesn’t back down from anything Zeke dishes out and as a matter of fact he gives it back harder—and with flair—which always brings a smile to Zeke’s face and another reason for my smile that was constantly plastered across my own face

•••

I don't usually ramble on too much about sex in a book. I love it when it's hot and the chemistry is off the charts but I have to feel it myself. Like it's real. I want to be able to vision the goosebumps and have them myself.

OH MY FREAKIN' GOD WAS THIS HOT!!!! LANE HAYES SERENADED ME WITH SEX SCENES

Wow, does the author ever heat up the pages with raw, rough, passionate, intense, and primal fu******* at it's finest! Yeah, you get my point. OMG The best I've read in a while.

•••

A little sample•••

I placed my wet finger on his hole and held my rigid cock for him to suck. The angle was a little awkward but it was enough pressure to make him wild. He sucked me harder and faster and pushed back until the tip of my finger was inside him. The intensity of giving and receiving pleasure with utter abandon was my undoing.

"Benny, I'm gonna come,"

•••

They come together in heated passion, consuming each other from top to bottom, biting, scratching, sucking, and kissing and don’t let up until both are spent and boneless and it’s HOT and exciting and each time they just ratchet the notch higher taking your emotions and heart palpitations with them.

•••

It’s exhilarating is the only way I know how to describe it and the author sucks you into their world like you are in a vacuum or a tunnel. You know there are things around you moving but you can’t focus on it because you are in the zone. Zeke is so far out of his element with Benny but he is loving every single minute spent in his surroundings and frankly. . .he can’t get enough of him.

•••

He feels alive with him—experiencing things all over again as if it were the first time—laughing and joking, and that’s not Zeke. . .at all. Not anymore. He’s the gruff and serious business man who doesn’t joke, he’s stern and in complete control and works all hours of the day. And, again OMG, I couldn't put the book down. If I wasn't smiling from ear to ear I was literally holding my breath. Incredible book.

•••

Highly, highly recommend you read this a.s.a.p. I have no reservations stating this is one of the best books I've read. E. V.E.R. From the first page till the last I was completely absorbed in this wonderful story and when I did have to lay it down for other things I hurried back as quickly as I could.

•••

The author touches on a lot of issues and some of them were extra hard for me having experienced some of them personally, losing parents, watching them get older, and so forth but even though I had tears pouring down my face it was beautiful and so well written.

•••

There's forgiveness that doesn't come easy and searching for that inner person that sometimes gets pushed out of sight and overlooked and soon forgotten with every day life and realizing that happiness is there in reach and really close if you are open. Worth more than 5 stars to me.
