For the month of December, MM Book Escape, will be posting a recap of the books that TOOK ME AWAY. They are in no particular order and if you enter the giveaway and give me your favorite book of the year, or at least one that left an impact, and the book you've been dying to read, I will gift that book to you, plus the $10 Amazon gift card.

Fairy tale endings weren’t made for people like me. Happy for now usually ain’t in the cards, either.

The dents on my wall from where my headboard kept knockin’ against the same spot was the first clue that I needed to calm my ass down. At the rate I was racking up notches and plowing through hookups, I wasn’t ever gonna find nothing real. Guess I kinda jinxed myself. I created my circumstances. You can’t get what you want if you keep falling back into the same pattern of bad habits. But then things changed. I stumbled onto somethin’ I never in a million years expected to happen. You gotta understand, I’m never the guy who wins. It was supposed to be just sex, but that shifty, rhyming and scheming bastard, Cupid, pulled a fast one.

I may have changed some stuff to protect a couple of people. But before you go believing the tabloids, make sure you understand that you’re gettin’ the lowdown straight from the source.

I needed to get this off my chest and it’s only fair that you at least get my side of it all. At some point, I might regret telling you any of this, but for now, you need to know.

*Disclaimer* This is a novella. Not a short story, novelette, or novel. This tale features an M/M pairing. If gay erotica/erotic romance is not your cup of tea and you are offended by same-sex relationships or crass language, you should bypass this story. Content is intended for a mature audience, 18+.

Complexity is the fourth installment in The Kinky Connect Chronicles. The Kinky Connect Chronicles are short erotic stories/novelettes all wrapped up in neat little bows. These stories are standalones. No cliffhangers in the lot!

Review

Wow, I love Manny and Chris that make up Complexity by Harper Miller. Whewww, that was intense and a such a powerful story. This was my first time reading anything by this author and, at first, I was a little apprehensive as to whether I was going to click with the story. My worry was completely unfounded.

Manny tells ya right up front that he’s a man-whore and he’s all about the sex. He trolls online dating sites for his partners and he knows who he’s getting from the start and what kink they may or may not have.

Only a couple very close people know he is bi but lately he’s been leaning more towards only men. He admits—if only to himself—he wants the family, the white picket fence, and he’s tired of being alone.

But tonight he has a date with "TightAss 247" that he hooked up with on the Kinkysinglesconnect website and from the moment he knocks on the door, his life will never be the same.

From this point, Harper Miller takes the reader on a fast-paced, all-consuming, journey that will—literally—suck you right into the story causing you to block out everything else.

Manny and Chris are hot and cold, oil and water, rich vs poor, rough and aggressive and then tender and sweet and OMG. . .just don’t forget to breathe while reading.

Manny is dominant and Chris is a natural submissive—which pushes both of their buttons—but beyond that they just click together. It was supposed to be one-night, no strings, and definitely no attachment, but the connection and the chemistry keep them coming back for more.

Harper Miller knocked this out of the park with her descriptive narrative. At times, it honestly felt like I was living right there in the moment with these two because the language and attention to detail was so spot on. And—and this is huge in my book—the sex between Manny and Chris was raw, aggressive, spit-slobbering sloppy, with a side of sweet and it was freaking incredible.

I was definitely sad to see Manny and Chris come to an end, especially the way it did—although my own imagination said it's all good—but I hope there will be more to their story in the future. Harper Miller writes with an ingenuity that keeps this reader in the zone and it’s refreshing and exhilarating to read books like this.
