Lee exchanges skyline for swampland in the next book of her male/male romance series, Roadmap to Your Heart.
Rugged and conventional Callum Montgomery enjoys running Shady Pines hunting preserve, except for the secret that's eating him alive. When his sister brings a date for a family wedding, he can't stand the arrogant city slicker with the stick up his perfectly fine ass. He doesn't understand his draw to Dean, who pushes his buttons at every turn, but he'd never dream of betraying his sibling over some lust fueled fantasy.
Handsome and conscientious Dean Abbott is a research assistant in his university's biology lab. When his roommate, Cassie, begs him to be her pretend date in front of her meddling family, he begrudgingly agrees to help. He doesn't anticipate being enchanted by the countryside, the colorful cast of characters, or her sexy and brooding straight brother.
When contempt turns to passion and leads to stolen moments in a sugar cane field, Callum can't help longing for the kind of connection he believes he can never have. But not even the world's most heart-melting kiss can bridge the vast philosophical differences between the men.
Dean's return to his urban lifestyle leaves him restless, his mind continually wandering to the charming setting that spoke to something missing deep inside him. Because you can take the city boy out of the country but you can't make him forget the intriguing man he left behind.
HOLY MOLY...This book rocks!!!
Christina Lee is a new author for me, but as soon as I finished reading, THE DEEPEST BLUE, Book 2 in the Roadmap To Your Heart series, I ran to Amazon to buy Book 1. The cover and then the blurb is what caught my attention, and WOW, so glad it did.
Remember back when you were in high school, I know. . . it's been a while for me, but did you ever experience your heart "all a flutter" over a cute boy or girl and you wanted to flirt with them? And. . . if they flirted back you got this giddy feeling inside your chest? THAT is what I felt reading this book.
Dean is working on his Master's and his roommate and best friend, Cassie, has asked him to go home with her—to her family—for a visit. They live on a preserve and they are hunters which stands against everything Dean believes in. But, Cassie is very compelling with her "please...please...go with me" argument and Dean caves. Oh, I almost forgot. . . he needs to play the part of her date/boyfriend so her daddy will quit bugging her about the neighbor boy. Hehe :)
When Dean meets Callum—Cassie's big and strong and gorgeous hunk of a brother—he gets a little tongue tied. Then he gets fired up because Callum seems to be making fun of the "city boy" and challenges him on everything he says.
However, Callum—who has been in the closet since high school—has been punched in the gut by Dean and his attractiveness. Even more so when Dean puts on his reading glasses.
Dean only plans on staying a week with Cassie and her family and then he has to get back to school for his final class to graduate. But, he has really started to love his visit—especially with Billie—Callum and Cassie's youngest brother, who has a magnetic personality. He has seizures that puts limits on what he can do, but he really found an ally in Dean and a real friendship.
Dean has, also, discovered a sugar cane field that no longer produces due to infestation and fungus. This is what he is studying for his degree so he wants to find a way to re-harvest the fields plus it will be another way to help the family bring in more income. The fact that he lives and attends college in a different state has really put a damper on these new feelings Dean is having.
He notices Callum looking at him, a lot, and sometimes he gets the feeling there is a mutual attraction. That couldn't be true though since he is straight and since Dean is pretending to be Cassie's date he can't really test his theory. None of this matters any more since this ↡ happened outside—in the dark—under the stars and moon.
Let me tell ya, OMG!! It was so HOT and I was smiling from ear to ear and whooping and hollering. I have never liked reviews with gifs, but I've realized that pictures are better than words.
Besides the hotness factor being through the roof, Christina Lee has written an incredible story. At first, the story moved a little slow and I'll admit I had my doubts whether I was going to connect. But, I stayed on course, and I can't even relay how much I loved this story. Not only did I finally connect, but I was so absorbed that I started reading on my phone when I had to lay my kindle down.
I, highly, recommend this story to all lovers of the M/M genre. Once the story took off—it was full steam ahead—and the author sucked me in and gave me everything I love in a story.
The Deepest Blue is 100% a standalone book. From what I can tell, nothing overlapped and there wasn't any plot holes that took me out of the story. However, I just bought the first book and can't wait to get started because Christina Lee is an author that I will be following from now on. A definite 5 Star for me.
