Happy Holidays and Happy Reading from MM Book Escape!!
Sparks ignite and tempers flare when a sexy, optimistic wedding planner moves his business in across the hall from a jilted, divorce lawyer’s practice.
“Look smart ass. This is the last time I’m going to remind you about breaking sections of the lease. If there’s a next time, I won’t stop until you and your frilly, white wedding shit is thrown out of here. Do you got it?!”
Wylde looked in Jacob’s pained eyes and answered in his deep voice. “Yeah, counselor. I got it.”
From high school, up until he became a successful attorney Jacob Snowden was convinced that love had it out for him. “Everyone left,” were the words he lived by. His mother, his high school sweetheart, his father, and his fiancé, all left Jacob just when he felt it was safe to let down his guard.
Not any longer.
Jacob was a determined man, set at keeping people at a distance. If his six foot one, military-made body didn’t scare people off, his permanent scowl surely did. At almost forty, Jacob’s social life was non-existent, but he told himself his work fulfilled him. He helped people get out of their loveless marriages.
Jacob Snowden was one of the best divorce lawyers on the east coast and was damn proud of it. So, imagine his disdain when a wedding planner moves into the suite directly adjacent to his… an insanely masculine, male wedding planner.
Wylde Sterling had made quite a name for himself in his hometown of Roanoke, Virginia, working for a wedding planner that catered to the elite. He was known for his charm and impeccable taste. Yep, he was incredible at giving couples the wedding of their dreams. But he wanted nothing more than to plan his own.
After striking out in love more times than he cared to admit, Wylde decided to start his own business in a new city, hoping Richmond would give him a fresh start. Things started out wonderfully – until he started to piss off the angry divorce attorney next door.
Wylde could see past Jacob’s mean scowl, knowing there was a reason for it. It was the man’s defense mechanism, his means of keeping people away. Everything in Wylde told him to stay away, but he believed Jacob just needed to meet a man who had been hurt as badly as he had.
This title is a standalone that ends in an HEA
A.E. Via knocked this one out of the park!! It has everything that I love in a contemporary romance. The slow build, the angst, a plot that was interesting that continued to climb throughout the entire story. Characters that were HOT, sexy, bad ass and fire crackers in the bed and ohh. . . the slow burn of the relationship. OMG!! I want a Wylde for myself!! I also want me a Jacob!!
Oh, poor Jacob. Gah! This man has been put through the wringer with love. From a young boy when his mother left him and he didn’t have a clue as to why—all through his adult years—he has been left at one time or another. He has given his heart and trust, over and over, only to be stomped on; so of course he has turned into a cold-hearted and bitter man. And, wow, is he ever.
All Jacob ever wanted was to be a lawyer and through perseverance, hard work, dedication, and many years of devotion, his dream came to fruition but with his success he is also a lonely man.
Everyone hates him, stays out of his way, clears the path in his presence and that’s the way Jacob likes it.
And…. when he least expects it, when he is sure he has no fucks left to give…
Wylde Sterling strolls in like the confident, bad ass, hair pulled up in a sexy-ass bun, sexy-as-sin-clothes-wearing guy that he is and lets Jacob know that he will respect him or else and trust me you will have the biggest-ass-smile plastered across your face as you read this book.
It’s fantastic &
it freaking rocks!!
I could start at page one right now and read it again, that’s how much I loved it.
Wilde has been hurt too so he understands Jacob, he recognizes his hurt and he knows his pain so he’s more than willing to go slow because he knows that Jacob is going to be worth the wait. He is not intimidated by Jacob’s gruff demeanor or angry bark, quite the contrary. He’s so turned on that he’s the horniest he has been in over a year.
The Secrets In My Scowl take you on an emotional journey through Jacob’s life and he will break your heart as you witness his heart getting broken, over and over. Jacob is a survivor, he must be because he only has himself to depend on most of the time except for one friend, Patrick. The author shows you these steps through Jacob’s life that eventually lead him to meeting Wylde which changes not only Jacob’s life but the way Jacob sees himself and the world around him.
Once Wylde enters the picture, the story takes on a whole new atmosphere that literally just caused my heart to pump out of my chest with glee. The story was reaching that moment of "something needs to happen" and Wylde moves in next door and I couldn't put the book down.
I was smiling and laughing so much that I had to start looking around to see who was watching me. Jacob and Wylde are crazy good together, and it doesn’t matter if it’s in the bed or out, they are a match made in heaven. Wylde is yin to Jacob's yang. Light to his dark and it works.
As swoon-worthy as Jacob and Wylde are, there were still a couple things that seemed a little far fetched such as Jacob's mother and his ex but they didn't sway me because this is why I read. . . to feel and experience these emotions. To be swept away by the joys of romance and AE Via has done that with Jacob and Wylde. You will laugh at their banter, you will be delighted at their romantic notions, you will be turned on by their intense, passionate, raw hunger they have for each other, and you will be bawling with joy at the ending.
