DRAWN IN… What a perfect fitting title! I was drawn into the story from the beginning and from midway until the end I was literally glued to the pages.  This story is filled with danger, despair, some would probably say a lot of darkness, but I love the dark and edgy and the author knows how to deliver in this area.  Once the story gets going there is humor and some really sexy good times, and I thought I was going to get away without tears but no. . . they were flowing at a fast rate, near the end.

We have two ALMOST broken men. Kell, an undercover police officer, is in a situation that has pushed him almost to his limits. He’s forced to do things that are beyond his comforts, yet he goes along with it hoping to get any sliver of information to take back to his boss to put these slime bags away.

Then there is Gethin, a private investigator, who by all appearances seems like if he didn’t have bad luck he wouldn’t have any. He is in a terrible situation with his ex and really, at times, just seems to be hanging on by a thread.

Through some very good friends, Gethin meets Kell at a party and they hit it off, very well, and agree to meet up again even though they both know they shouldn’t. But, damn, they need something good to cling to if just for a little while. They are going to meet just to have sex, which is super-hot and also fun between them because they laugh and have a good time and you will have a smile plastered across your face as you read, but just sex doesn’t last long before they both want more.

Even though there is quite a bit of angst and fear is always hanging around the corner, the author has included supporting characters that are an absolute blast and can be counted on to add much needed levity to heavy situations weighing on the main characters. Angel and Henry are great friends to Gethin and always support him and help him when they are given the opportunity to do so. I love Angel, so hard.

There’s a lot I would like to say about this book but won’t because it would spoil it for other readers. The author has weaved a very intricate thriller that started from the very beginning when things didn’t quite make sense, but by the end when it all came together, and it all clicked, you almost want to go back and start over just to pick up on those parts again, that at first read— felt a little off kilter.

There is action and drama, suspense and mystery, but there is also an emotional roller-coaster that you are on with Kell and Gethin as they get closer in their relationship and as the investigation starts closing in. These two give each other hope and they make each laugh and smile and that’s something that neither one of them have had in a really long time.

Gethin struggles through the biggest part of the book with his ex, trying to do what is right, wondering if what he is doing is the right thing and he’s tormented with it all and I really hated his ex for what he was putting him through but the ending was absolutely beautiful and so moving. I love that new memories were being made and it was a perfect ending. 4 Stars

Author Bio

Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the south of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Vulcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.

After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.

Her books feature quirky heroines and bad boys, and she hopes they are as much fun to read as they are to write. You can find Barbara on Goodreads, Twitter, or her blog at www.barbaraelsborg.com
