With no more than a flash of thought, he was inside the man's room and standing at the foot of a large bed.

Locks. Such a useless human defense.

He cocked his head to the side and examined the book splayed open on the man's naked chest. It looked as though it had fallen there when he'd drifted off to sleep, his fingers still resting against the glossy cover.

Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths.

Now that is an unlikely coincidence.

A sinister smile morphed Alasdair's lips, and he touched the tip of his tongue to the fangs elongating from his upper gums. The familiar surge of adrenaline caused his skin to come alive with awareness as his body prepared itself to do what it had been created for.

Raising his hand, he flicked his wrist and the covers whisked back. The man beneath was no more aware of the action than a slight shift in the air as a low sigh escaped him and he stretched his body, turning his head on the pillow.

The sight that greeted Alasdair made the hours he'd spent tracking well worth the time. When the human took a breath, the knotted drawstring tie of his linen lounge pants caught his attention. Fuck, that made him want to indulge his carnal side first.

Maybe this was the root of his current obsession. In fact, that thought was followed by one truer to his perverse nature. How long would it take to have him clutching those covers from lust if I wanted it? And as Alasdair continued to observe the human, he realized just how much he wanted it.

The chest where the book was lying was covered in a light dusting of blond hair. It trailed a path along the center of the man's sternum to his stomach, which looked as hard as his own. However, unlike his own abdomen, this man's skin would be warm to the touch.

Perhaps he could take a moment or two and… No, he didn't have the time, and that really was a shame. A meeting had been called this evening, and he was due at the Assembly Hall soon. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off the Ancients by being late.

So, with the speed and the stealth only his kind possessed, he was on the bed and stretched out above the man, and his mouth hovered over the ear closest to him.

He threw the book, which landed with a loud thump on the floor, and couldn't stop himself from slipping one of his hands beneath those thin pants to curl his fingers around the flaccid cock he found inside. When a soft groan left the human, Alasdair used his other hand to capture his captive's wrists like iron shackles and pin them above his head. Before the man had a chance to wake, he delved inside his head and projected an image of where this hunt would finally end.

my review

INTENSE FEAR, ANXIETY, LUST,…are just a few things that you experience reading Alasdair (MASTERS AMONG MONSTERS) by Ella Frank. From the beginning to the end it is constantly like trying to figure out a puzzle. One that has missing pieces but slowly start to form a picture that you see over time.

I was completely consumed by the words that I was taking in trying to grasp the mystery and suspense that hovers over the entire book.

Vampires, Gods, Myths, in their element, are all very exciting, yet confusing, as you try to figure out what is happening in the story.

Leo comes into contact within the first few pages with Alasdair.

Leo, a human, as far as he has ever known, has worked many years for the job he has in the museum. Studying under his predecessor Elias, he works long hours learning and developing his mind with Greek mythology, gods, and myths. He is truly fascinated by everything he discovers.

Alasdair, a vampire of the highest standing, Lord to those - alike all around him, cold hearted, yet so much beauty and strength, he is the envy of them all. For the first time ever, he is obsessed with a human, not understanding why he feels so compelled to be in his midst, that he forgets his duties and obligations to the court and his cousins.

Alasdair has every intention of taking what he wants from Leo, but something happens when he tries and it defies all logic he has ever known. At odds with what his happening, he keeps it to himself for just a while longer. He knows he shouldn’t, but again, there is something about Leo that pulls the seductive vampire, causing him to gravitate towards the human, and in turn making ruthless mistakes.

Leo is transfixed by Alasdair, to the point, that he is also just as reckless. He fights him, back talks him, and stands up to him, even though he knows he could be killed in a split second. None of that matters, however, because stronger than his fear… is his lust and desire. He is turned on by the intense and dominating personality of Alasdair.

From the minute they meet until the end of the book, you will be enthralled with the suspense and the passion that embodies this story. The author delivers a brilliant mind-melting descriptive narrative that you will be hard pressed to lay aside.

The journey you take as you read thru these pages will literally suck you in as if you, also, are under the same spell as Leo. The twists and turns the author weaves taking you further and further into the minds of Leo and Alasdair will have you shaking your head in disbelief.

Trust me when I say the intensity Ella Frank brings to the forefront is indescribable. There is no way that I have the words to explain what takes place.

You travel back in time, which isn’t something I care for, unless it is done really well, which in this case, it most certainly was, but you will see places that Alasdair has been, what he has done, and what he is capable of.

Showing these past events pieces together important details and helps to bring the puzzle closer to completion. In turn, giving the reader an inside look at things we normally would not have known but now have access thru by Leo’s dreams and/or visions.

There is jealousy, greed, and lust so strong that it is palpable in your own chest. It is raw and extreme, intense and ravaging, and you will be totally wiped out in the aftermath.

Ella Frank has set the mark for danger and desire with Masters Among Monsters giving you an intricately weaved web that even at the end you are not sure what will happen next.

This does end with a cliffhanger, again something I hate, because when something is this powerful and intense, as a reader, it is so hard to be coming into the home stretch, only to be stopped before passing the finish line. That’s where we are at the end of Alasdair, Book 1. We were so close that I was holding my breath in fear, so wrapped up in the intrigue of the plot, but was stopped short. I was not ready to let go.

But, isn’t the sign of an impeccable story, a gifted author, to be so engrossed and enamored, to be so consumed by the story, that when you reach the climax, you want, you need, that happy ever after? The full puzzle?  So much so, that everything around you has fallen to the wayside. At least, that is how I felt reading this story.

I highly recommend this story to anyone, even if you are not a fan of M/M because, as the Master himself stated - they fuck who they choose, gender is of no consequence, and if you are chosen then hang on tight.

The suspense and mystery is titillating and will leave you breathless. Truly a mind-blowing experience. Even if you are not a fan of vampires, this is way more than that.

**A note to readers - Alasdair, Book 1 is M/M, however the series, as a whole, will include many versions. Here is a letter from the author -

Dear Readers,

Before you embark on this journey into my new erotic paranormal series, Masters Among Monsters, I wanted to let you know what you can expect from this trilogy.

Each novel will center around a different relationship that will also span across the course of the series, and they will include elements of: M/M, M/F, F/F & M/M/M. That sounds crazy right? I hope that doesn’t scare you off because I promise it makes more sense in context. More so than paranormal, please keep in mind this is an erotic series. It will be what you have come to expect from me, but with a twist.

These will be the dark and sinful stories of the Masters among Monsters. They will not be standalones.

Xx Ella
